The Raffle - 2021
One of 2021’s wonderful raffle prizes was a day's use of the mysterious Cable House on Cuckmere Haven Beach, for up to 6 people with a hamper containing lunch & drinks created by an award-winning Sussex chef. The Cable Hut is one of the most intriguing secrets of Cuckmere Haven. Most visitors wonder what this unique building is doing on the beach and are unaware of its significance. It is one of the few remaining cable stations that once lined the coast. The Cable Hut is not normally available for use so this truly is a unique experience.
The winner of this incredible prize was Margaret Parkes, who invited friends and family to join her for a gourmet picnic lunch at The Cable House.
“A very peaceful and magical time in the garden of the Cable Hut. Such a special place.
This cable hut is a piece of history and must be protected.
The further deterioration of the coastal defences protecting the iconic coastguard cottages, the cable hut and the groynes is truly shocking to see.
This was a beautiful area of outstanding natural beauty which seems to have been abandoned by the authorities” - C.Ient, guest
This was one of the 4 raffles prizes which included: a £650 food and drink hamper, £700 worth of art donated by the exhibitors along with fun souvenirs of Cuckmere Haven and a lunch at Coastguard Cottage number 4.
